2. How We Collect Information
Our primary purpose in collecting information is to provide you with a safe, efficient, enjoyable and customized equine website experience. By simply visiting or viewing the Website, we will not collect any Personal Info about you. We do however collect information about you in three basic ways:
- We collect information in your Member Profile that you voluntarily provide to become a registered Member of WikiHorseWorld, and also when you use certain services (e.g. entering an email address on a form to send an email from your account).
- We collect information when you register to join WikiHorseWorld by logging into an account that you already have with certain third-party social networking sites ("SNS") including, but not limited to, Facebook.com and Google+ (http://plus.google.com). For example, our Website may allow you to create an account and log into WikiHorseWorld using your Facebook or Google+ accounts. If you are not currently registered as a Member of WikiHorseWorld and you click on the Facebook Connect or Google Connect buttons, you will first be asked to enter your Facebook/Google credentials and then be given the option to register with and join WikiHorseWorld.
- When you browse, visit or use our Website, whether as a Visitor or a Member who's logged in, we use technological tools including "Log Data" and "Cookies" to collect certain information as explained below.
3. Information We Collect and How We Use It
a) Profile Information We Collect
When you join the website and become a registered Member of WikiHorseWorld, we will ask you for certain Personal Info that can be used to contact and identify you. This Personal Info may include, but is not limited to, your full name and your email address. We may also ask you for other Non-Personal Info or optional information which is used to enable your interaction with other Website Users.
After creating a Member account, WikiHorseWorld Members may choose to edit their profile and enter (store) other optional information in their profiles including, but not limited to, the following "Optional Profile Info". The Optional Profile Info entered into your profile is voluntarily provided by you at your sole discretion.
Optional Profile Info
- Profile headline and description
- Profile photo (Avatar)
- Home address (to automate classified checkout)
- Telephone number (to automate classified checkout)
- Web Site/Page
- Interests and hobbies
- Relationship status
- Education, occupation and company
- Status messages and tags
- Favorite websites, books, films and music
Occasionally, after logging into the Website, you may be prompted to review your profile information to insure its accuracy or to enter additional Non-Personal Info including, but not limited to, your birthday, gender and country of origin. This additional Non-Personal Info is used to enable your interaction with other Website Users.
b) Log Data We Collect
When you visit the Website, whether as a registered Member or as a non-registered User just browsing the Website, our servers may automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include but is not limited to information such as the browser type or the webpage you were visiting before you came to our Website, pages of our Website you visit, the time spent on those pages, information you search for on our Website, access times and dates, and other technical statistics. We use this information to monitor and analyze your use of the Website and the Website’s technical characteristics, to increase our Website’s functionality, performance and "user-friendliness", and to better tailor our Website to our visitor's needs. For example, some of this information is collected so that when you visit the Website again, it will recognize you.
WikiHorseWorld also routinely logs IP addresses and aggregate user data from both Members and Visitors to the Website. This data is used to manage the Website, track usage, and improve our Website's products and services. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes. We may also store community discussions, email, chats, entries into Blogs and Forums, and all other correspondence, content or information posted on or through our Website and all correspondence sent to us.
c) How We Use Your Information
We use your Personal Info (in some cases, in conjunction with your Non-Personal Info) to provide services to you such as:
We create your WikiHorseWorld Member account based upon the information you provide which enables you to use all the services provided by WikiHorseWorld. We also create your Member profile ("profile") which contains all your information.
We use Personal Info such as your name, home address and telephone number to automate the classified checkout process in the event you choose to purchase premium (paid) classified ads on this Website using a credit card. If you do not enter your full home address and telephone number in your profile, you'll need to re-enter this Personal Info each time you purchase a premium classified ad via credit card.
We may use your Personal Info to contact you with WikiHorseWorld newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive such communications from us, please follow the unsubscribe instructions located at the bottom of all such communications. Please note however that if you are a member of WikiHorseWorld, you may still receive occasional email regarding important issues that may impact your account.
We use your information to respond to your questions and/or inquiries and to assist you with technical or functional problems you may encounter with the Website.
You have the option to search for friends or other personal contacts using their name, email address, city, state, zip and other profile information so that you can find your friends on the Website and your friends can find you on the Website.
Email via Your Website Account
As part of our services, WikiHorseWorld Members may communicate with other registered and non-registered Users through use of their WikiHorseWorld account. If you've added one or more email addresses to an online form, the message will be sent from WikiHorseWorld to those email addresses on your behalf.
4. Sharing and Security of Your Information
When you register with WikiHorseWorld and submit information to create your Member profile, other WikiHorseWorld Users will see your User Name and a profile photo or avatar (if you've added one). These third party service providers have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are contractually obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose.
Except as specifically noted in this Policy, WikiHorseWorld will not sell, share, rent or otherwise distribute your information to any third party at any time for any reason. We store and process your information on servers located in the United States which are protected by encryption, passwords and physical security to prevent your information from being disclosed or accessed without authorization. WikiHorseWorld also uses third parties to verify and certify our privacy policies. Despite our precautions however, third parties may unlawfully access our servers, intercept transmissions or private communications, or human error or software abnormalities ("bugs") may result in the inadvertent disclosure of a user's information. In the unlikely event of a breach of security or an accidental disclosure of information, users will be notified via email about the nature and extent of the disclosure.
Although WikiHorseWorld works very hard to protect your information and your privacy, we cannot and do not guarantee the privacy or confidentiality of your information and we expressly disclaim any and all liability in connection with the disclosure of some or all of your information for any reason.
